Listening to Phoenix. Finishing Media Kit. I stumbled upon this article when catching up with the world. I think its interesting, and the fact that the adjective ’slothful’ was used within the second sentence is what really got me. I don’t know that I would ever choose to use such a bizarre adj. But I do love sloths. Anyways, check out this article. Its actually really good. Oh, and then get to exercising and stop worrying so damn much.

Media Kit

My earlier nap (which was much needed) is currently preventing me from sleeping during normal people hours. So, I figure I’d use this time to my advantage and as of now I am working on the media kit for A Peace of Mind. As soon as I have it all completed I will have it posted for you all to admire! This may take me a few days due to my entirely too crammed schedule. I cannot wait for Thanksgiving and the one day off that comes along with it.
I feel like Thanksgiving is really one of the only days of the year when time seems to run more slowly. It feels like it runs on the clock you used when you were a kid, you know…the one that you checked consistently every six seconds to see if the big hand had moved any. Its a good slow though, in this case. Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays. Its cozy, and it gives us all the opportunity to escape the monotony of our schedules and deadlines in order to soak up all the warmth of family. What do you like most about Thanksgiving? What is your greatest memory of this time of year? Better yet…anyone have any horror stories of burnt turkey or something of the like? Tell me!!!

Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff!

“So many people spend so much of their life energy “sweating the stuff” that they completely lose touch with the magic and beauty of life. When you commit to working toward this goal you will find that you will have far more energy to be kinder and gentler.”
This book is great, even just to flip though. Borrow from a friend, or buy it yourself. Its a nice read to keep for your library. It’s very true though. Don’t sweat the small stuff.

Rainy Days and Mondays
Today might as well be Monday. It feels just like one. The start of the week, just not all that fresh. It is nasty out. I’d rather be in my bed. My down comforter wraps me up like a cloud trying to eat me. I like that! Hmph. But here I am instead, blogging, thinking, filling my head with too many things. Ick! I am such a complainer. I just don’t so much like today, it is too gray and wet out. But this isn’t MY diary, its OURS. So get to commenting, emailing, whatever. Give me something to work with. I’d rather know how your day is going, okay!
On another note, I can’t stop listening to this song by The Acorns. Its called The Flood Part 1. The first half reminds me a little of David Byrne. I appreciate that. Take a listen. Tell us what you think. Post your own “feel good” song of the day!

A ‘Radical’ Crisis

I found this in my 2009 slingshot organizer, so thoughtfully given to me as a present by my beautiful brother Justin over the winter when I visited him in Brooklyn town. The organizer is a yearly publication of the slingshot collective’s efforts to spread the word about well, themselves and their ideals. USEFUL self promotion. I like. My organizer provides me with a handy visual of my to do’s, which ultimately just looks like an illegible and jumbled mess of reminders, due dates, deadlines, appointments and the occasional quote or two. OOPS. Anyway, I wanted to post this little gem that I stumbled upon today and hear your thoughts:
Crisis Recovery
Society provides few options for people in crisis other than mental hospitals, religion and psychiatric drugs. The value of freedom, love and community do not end when you’re in crisis. In fact, they can save your life. The key is empowerment–What do you do that really helps?
- A mutual support group group is simply peers listening to and helping peers as equals–validating, if not “endorsing” feelings.
- Try to remember to breathe.
- Eco-psychology is realizing nature and wilderness are our greatest healers. Spend more time outside the city to get centered and get away from pollution which is in itself mid-altering.
- Exercise, dance, biking and physical movement often prove helpful for depression, etc.
- There is no shame in using psychiatric drugs if you know they work for you.
- Art, writing a journal, making a zine, playing music, singing, and other forms of personal expression are often safe ways to break the silence with others, and even yourself, about your inner pain.
I liked this bit. Everyone has bad days. See, they’re even published in my scheduler. OH. So what do YOU think? What do you do to help yourself?
